We have several questions that get asked frequently, so we decided it might be a good idea to post the answers here.

Q-Is the L-1011 open for tours?

A-The logistics of having the plane open to the public for tours is a somewhat complicated process and necessitates having some equipment in place that we currently don't have. When the plane is ready, we will set a Grand Opening date which will be posted on this site and spread as far and wide as possible.

Q-Will our L-1011 be repainted in the TWA colors she once wore?

A-There are no plans to change the color scheme at this time. Our financial resources are very limited and at this point, our concentration is on getting "dummy" engines back on so that she looks whole again. Additionally we are in need of funds to get our DC-3 restoration project complete and that plane in the air, as well as a similar scenario for our Connie.

The fuel truck was short the amount needed... so we are waiting to hear when the fueling is completed and she is in the air.....

Perfect beginning to the day for our L-1011's Homecoming--kind of dreary and snow! Why is that perfect...because the clouds are parting and it's always more dramatic when you having been longing for the sun and then the sky clears! The great news--it's VFR in Roswell baby!!! Elle's still on the ground so no ETA yet. It will be posted here when we have it but all systems are go. John Novak and Marty Glaze shown here with the beginning of the snow removal from the ramp.

We will open the museum tomorrow, Saturday, at its usual time-10:00 a.m. There will be no admission (DONATIONS VERY WELCOME!!!). There will also be no "formal" tours, rather self-guided with AHM volunteers stationed thoughout the museum and hangar. Please note: our fire code restricts us to a maximum of 299 people in the hangar when the doors are closed (and they will be!), so not all of the crowd we anticipate can be in the hangar at once.

When we have word that Elle's arrival is close, we are going to shoo everyone outside to watch.

The weather in Roswell today is in the twenties with only a 10% chance of precipitation. Tomorrow the forecast is still cold (30s) but no precipitation and sunny. Thus far, looks good for flying!

Update on the ETA

We are currently estimating the time of arrival of the L-1011 this Saturday to be between 1-2 p.m. Kansas City time. Any changes will be posted on this site as soon as we get them.

Pictured here are the special flight permit documents a short time after they were received this morning. We are doing our best to spread the word and thanks to Matt Campbell and the Kansas City Star, the word is going far and wide! This is a very historic event--so all are welcome to come and see Elle arrive at her new home! So far, it looks to be a sunny day....but a very cold one, so bundle up and join us!
