Thanks SOOO much Gwyn for posting everything today! I was tuned in at every chance living vicariously through your messages.

And when I discovered you even added your video clips - you allowed me to be there when Elle came home. You are one awesome bunch!

My all time favorite plane. So glad to see one being preserved. I HOPE that they keep her airworthy for quite a while. She needs to fly once a year!! She looks great!

Andrea, Thanks for your nice comments. I knew there were many who wanted to be here but couldn't so I was trying to do my best to "have you all here." Can't even begin to describe the feeling of seeing her come in. There is so much to the story and times when even we wondered if it would ever happen. Can't say enough about the spunk and drive of Larry Brown, our co-founder, who was the guy that got the Connie here too. And then there are the guys who spent time in Roswell doing all the work needed for the FAA to sign off. Might seem like Roswell would be a lovely place to be this time of year but as I continue to add the photos from the guys you'll see it was pretty challenging and cold! We have a wonderful group here and I feel very warm today just thinking about them. And I'm about to walk out into our warm hangar where almost 200 folks from Menorah Medical Center are having a wonderful evening complete with a plated dinner and dancing to the Moonlight Serenade Orchestra, the group that plays our hangar dances. A great day for the AHM with lots more to come! Come visit us!

Congratulations AHM! That is one fine looking aircraft. I remember flying across the Atlantic and across the USA on TWA L-1011s. I miss these comfortable widebodied planes and especially miss Trans World Airlines.

Was glad to see her added to the museum. This makes two of your four planes that my dad worked on over the years. Thanks for the video.

I was so happy to see the videos of the landing and the clip in front of downtown KC! What a great day for Kansas City and the L1011 is such a nice addition to the museum. There are many former TWA workers that are undoubtedly very proud to have her here, since they probably worked on this aircraft at one time or another. The entire Team that worked to bring this aircraft here needs to be commended. I would love to see a clip or an interview of the crew that had the privelege of flying this aircraft from Roswell. Congratulations!

Sometime in 1996 I flew a TWA L-1011 with my little brother to DCA via STL.. I wish I'd kept the tail number of that bird. I later flew ATA L-1011s as a service member in the USAF before ATA retired them (and later succumbed financially). Thank you for preserving a piece of our illustrious airline history for my children to see and touch. We cannot wait to see Elle in person!

Are there any clips from inside the cockpit while Elle is in the air? It's neat to see the crew taxiing around but it would be awesome to see it in the air from inside the plane?

That was a day to that L-1011 come to Downtown airport me to I wish the Plane came in from the South with the
City in the back. But it was a Sad day because my dad's uncle ROY STEWART did not get to live to see this day
happen......

Gwen, I to would like to thank you for the videos. I sat in front of my PC watching Ellie's progress on flight aware. Wish it could have been a live webcast, but I'm not complaining. Sure wish I could have been there for her homecoming. Pretty cool the AHM has 2 of the classiest looking sisters in their collection ! Connie and Ellie Lockheed.

Everyone, as former PR Director of AHM, I just had to be there. I threw together this little montage to commemorate the moment. Enjoy.

Fantastic! My girls and I flew first class from KC-STL-Orlando the last year TWA flew them. And I enjoyed working the airframe and powerplants for TWA. The clattering fan blades bring back many memories at the Overhaul Base, would like to see her in TWA livery soon.

I worked at Lockheed in Burbank on the L-1011 as a secretary and remember the thrill I got when the Tri-Star made its flight by our building. These videos brought back the same thrill and pride as it did in then. I hated to see it taken out of service - it was/is a great plane. Thank you for giving her a new home.

Congrats - AHM! She looks great - almost as good looking as your Super G..... And, she flew in - the only way for an old airplane to arrive home.

You guys are great!

I am so excited to see a L1011 come home to the museum. It was a great aircraft. I have flown on them several times. I worked for TWA for 13 years as ticket agent. It was always great to work the flight. I had a chance to fly many times. Great work everyone. Hope to see it in person.

It was wonderful to see the L1011 flying into Kansas City. I was part of the FMS team working with Arma. I flew hundreds of hours with BA, Saudia, Gulf Air and LTU on delivery flights to London, Jeddah etc. Then performed crew familiarisation and data bank changes with the airlines. I still have in pride of place the gold goblet presented to everyone on board the first -500 delivered to BA. Fantastic memories.

Congrats AHM. I use to be an FE on the L1011's at ATA Airlines. I now have my own consulting company and was out at Victorville, CA when they flew 3 of ATA's old L1011-500's off to the Middle East last year. There is a charter airlines that are using them to fly the haji to Mecca. Great to see the old birds take to the air again.

We had a couple of TWA's L1011-100's in our fleet...you could always tell by the tape gauges on the forward instrument panel.

Best of luck to you!

As one who worked on British Airways Tristar 100 200 and 500 series in the 80s and 90s at London England , your videos bought a tear to the eye and a heavy bout of nostalgia of the happy and sometimes miserable times working on them , e had a motto at BA "your never out of a job maintaiining a Triistar"She was a thing of beauty one day and big heap of metal the next but all in all I would not have missed the experience one little bit .
I dont know what your plans for her are but if you can afford it keep her in as near to flying condition you can and on special days give the old Rollers a run they will last you for years.
There are certain events in ones life that never fade. I was an AF KC135 instructor conducting upgrade training at the Palmdale, CA one morning late November or December of 1970. We had completed a taxi back landing and were holding at the departure end of the RWY. We all watched as this huge three engine AC with no identifiable markings and white quadrants painted on the main gear tires crossed the threshold and landed in front of us . Before I could key the mic the tower transmitted, "It's Lockheed's new L1011 working on its certification" I never suspected that two years later I'd be with Eastern Air Lines and involved with the "Whisper Jet"..............Congratulations on the wonderful addition your museum.

Jon Anderson: lol, I was born Nov 22, 1970, and it's a great feeling knowing that L1011 was practically born near my bday! what an honor!
I am a huge fan of L1011s. I have flown Delta L1011s a lot, as a teen, in the 80s. I traveled from San Fransisco to Atlanta many times back and forth. The L1011s and also the sound of DC9s when reverse thrusting (I love that loud sound! lol) are my two favorites!
Thank you for the videos, it was great to watch!
PS An airline pilot years ago, sent me a checklist they used in the cockpits of L1011. the best thing anyone gave me too! :)
