Fired Up on a Cold Day!

While the L-1011 still can, the engines were fired up and it did a little taxi out and back as part of a documentary that will be incorporated in the education program that is a work in progress.  The great Speed of Flight team is doing this work for us, as well as a bunch of volunteers freezing on the ramp and a crew in the plane.  Will be exciting to see the results.

She's so special and such a great asset to our wonderful Airline History Museum. How valuable the upcoming educational experience will be to students-of all ages. Tour groups have something extra special again to learn about the AHM.

Good to see her come to life again. I do have to say that ya'll need to tell that guy not to stand so close to the front of the engine. From the camera shot it looked like he was a bit too close!!

Wow! Great footage. I only flew on an L-1011 twice but I will always remember those smokey Rolls Royce RB211 engine starts! By all accounts a very good airplane in it's day. Too bad Lockheed only built about 300 of them. The Airline History Museum seems to have a habit of owning very pretty airplanes. Is there an L-188 Electra far behind? Sorry, when I think of airplanes, my mind often wanders.

I love this plane, and I'm so happy that you got it to the museum, but I heard a rumor that the engines are going to be stripped out and sold. This can't be true, is it? i don't expect flights out of it, but please at least keep it close to operating condition, there are so few Tristars left!

The L-1011 will always be the most attractive widebody ever built. Keep Elle as original as possible and
save the engines.
